this is loosely a song about my grandfather Jimmy Daltry, who for more than 50 years of his life was a jazz big band leader / keyboard player. he called his band Jimmy Daltry And The All-Stars, which is where this song gets its title. when he passed away i really wanted to play this song at his funeral but i just didn't have the guts to do so. but one of his former bandmates played the trumpet that day and it was a perfect tribute, something i wouldn't have been able to pull off at the time. but now i am happy to say this one's for you, Jimmy Daltry.
